Conceptual comparison of orange liquid and powder in laboratory glassware; not study results.

NovaSOL® curcumin showed 185× higher bioavailability than native curcumin powder in a human study. Its liquid-micelle technology is a key part of that advantage. When comparing turmeric supplements, look at the named formulation alongside the amount and daily serving.

What was actually compared in the 185× study?

In the randomised crossover study by Schiborr and colleagues, 23 healthy adults received the tested formulations at the same study dose: 500 mg curcuminoids, including 410 mg curcumin. Across all participants, the liquid-micelle formulation produced a 185-fold higher total-curcumin 24-hour AUC than native curcumin powder. Read the original study record.

AUC is the area under the blood concentration–time curve: it describes exposure over the measurement period. In this study, the 185× bioavailability comparison was between the NovaSOL® liquid-micelle formulation and native curcumin powder.

Turmeric, curcumin and a micellar preparation are different things

Turmeric is the plant material. An extract concentrates selected compounds from it. Curcuminoids are a group of compounds; curcumin is the main member. A statement such as “95% curcuminoids” identifies the composition of a standardised extract.

NovaSOL® is a formulated raw material that carries curcumin in water-dispersible micelles. Each Licur capsule provides 720 mg of the complete NovaSOL® micellar preparation. That brings the ingredient and its liquid-micelle technology together in a defined daily portion.

Licur Max or Licur 7000?

Both products provide 720 mg NovaSOL® micellar preparation in one capsule. The practical difference is vitamin D3: Licur 7000 adds 7.8 µg (312 IU) per capsule; Licur Max has no added vitamin D. Both use HPMC capsule shells. Licur Max is vegan, while Licur 7000 contains lanolin-derived vitamin D3 and is vegetarian.

Both are available in 30- and 60-capsule packs and are labelled for one capsule daily. Choose the pack size separately from the formula. If you already take vitamin D, include that existing intake when considering Licur 7000. See the full Licur comparison.

A useful label checklist

Look for the named raw material, its amount per recommended serving, the capsule ingredients and any added nutrients. Then ask whether an absorption claim names the study, the comparator and the measurement. These details make the formulation and daily routine easy to compare.

Frequently asked questions

What is the practical advantage of NovaSOL®?

It combines water-dispersible liquid micelles with a published human bioavailability result: 185× higher total-curcumin 24-hour AUC than native curcumin powder in the cited study. Licur makes this technology available in a convenient capsule.

How many capsules do I take each day?

For Licur Max and Licur 7000, the labelled serving is one capsule daily. Choose a 30- or 60-capsule pack to fit your routine.

Does NovaSOL® need black pepper?

Licur Max and Licur 7000 contain no added piperine. Their formulation uses micelles. This gives you a curcumin option with micellar technology and no added black-pepper extract. If you take medicines, ask a pharmacist or clinician to check suitability.

Which is the best turmeric supplement for me?

Start with the formulation you want, any extra nutrients you already take, dietary preferences and the exact label. NovaSOL® offers a documented bioavailability advantage. Licur Max is the vegan option without added vitamin D, while Licur 7000 combines NovaSOL® with vitamin D3.

Before taking either product

Read the full label. Do not exceed one capsule daily. Neither product is suitable for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or anyone allergic to an ingredient. If you take medicines or have a medical condition, ask a pharmacist or clinician to check suitability. Food supplements do not replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Compare the curcumin range and labels.
