life’sOMEGA®
EPA and DHA from algae — no fish.
Supplied by dsm-firmenich
life’sOMEGA® is a vegan omega-3 from dsm-firmenich that supplies both EPA and DHA from a single algal source (microalgae, Schizochytrium sp.) — a plant-based, sustainable alternative to fish oil.
The technology
The oil is produced by fermentation of non-GMO microalgae in a controlled, land-based environment rather than from wild-caught fish. Unusually for a plant-based omega-3, it delivers both EPA and DHA from one source, in a natural triglyceride form (per supplier specifications).
Published research
An honest note: there is no published, PubMed-indexed human trial named for life’sOMEGA® yet — a brand-named bioavailability trial is registered and recruiting (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT07241377) but has no results to cite. The published evidence sits at the level of algal-oil EPA/DHA bioavailability:

Bailey et al. (2025)
Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (n≈74) of a Schizochytrium microalgal oil (natural triglyceride form) versus fish oil; investigated plasma EPA+DHA bioavailability. Manufacturer-authored; the paper does not use the life’sOMEGA brand name.

Randomised, parallel-group study (n=32) comparing algal-oil DHA capsules with cooked salmon; investigated plasma and red-blood-cell DHA (DHA only).

A note on claimsEPA and DHA carry authorised EU claims (heart; DHA for brain and vision); those are conditional on intake and belong on the product page. This page describes the algal source, sustainability and form.
